Diana Charles

Diana Billings Charles, Director of the Advanced Chorus, joined the Southern California Children’s Chorus in the fall of 2019.

Ms. Charles served on the conducting staff of the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus for 13 years and continues with LACC as an online vocal coach to the Apprentice Choir. She began her career teaching general music and chorus in Saddleback Valley Unified School District; created and taught Music and Music Classes for Children, ages 2-10, in Orange County; and taught general music at Our Lady Queen of Angels School in Newport Beach for 25 years. She currently directs the two Parish Children’s Choirs at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Newport Beach and is an Adjunct Professor at Concordia University Irvine. .

She earned a Bachelor of Music degree with an emphasis in Music Education from the University of Southern California where she also did a 5th year of graduate study and holds her California Life Credential to teach music, grades K-12. Ms. Charles also earned certification in Levels I-III from Choral Music Experience, studied the Kodály method with Katinka Daniel, and studied Orff-Schulwerk Levels I-III under the mentorship of Jos Wuytack.

She is a member of the American Choral Director’s Association, American Orff Schulwerk Association, and Chorister’s Guild.
