Moving from OCC to OCMD
An exciting development for the Southern California Children's Chorus (SCCC) came earlier this year. SCCC has been invited to become a strategic partner of Orange County Music & Dance (OCMD), Orange County’s first and only nonprofit community music school. A vision of Pick Up Stix Founder and philanthropist Charlie Zhang, OCMD is now a complete, state-of-the-art 21,000 square foot facility adjacent to MacArthur and the 55 Freeway. Their mission is to nurture, inspire and empower Orange County’s most committed and talented youth to achieve their dreams and provide a path for them to follow their passions. For more information, visit www.ocmusicdance.org.
From a rehearsal facility standpoint, OCMD meets the needs of SCCC and provides room for considerable growth. Moreover, our relationship with OCMD will also allow us to move our administrative office into their facility as well, maximizing the strategic benefits of a daily collaborative relationship.
We appreciate the Orange Coast College music staff for allowing us to rent their facility for the past ten years. It has been a wonderful partnership and we hope that we will be able to work together musically in the future.
We expect that our last regular office hours at our present location in Newport Beach will take place on July 31st. In September, SCCC will begin its 2017-2018 choral year in our new home at OCMD.
